Reduce Corporate liability, Employee Injury, and Insurance Claims

Occupational Testing Centers Pre-Employment Screening Services provides the experience, testing labs, medical review personnel and reporting mechanisms you need to administer, track and enforce a drug-free policy.

OTC gives your company access to a nationwide network of SAMHSA certified drug and alcohol testing labs for both DOT-regulated and non-federal workplace programs; a national network of collection sites, and pre-employment physical examinations. With a variety of reporting mechanisms that include the Internet, e-mail, and fax, your information is just a click, fax or phone call away.

Drug Testing Standards
Standards developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) have gained acceptance as the safest and most reliable guidelines to drug testing. They include careful attention to forensic collection techniques, laboratory analysis with confirmation of positive results, and medical review of test results. CSS and its contractors follow Federal guidelines for all drug test results reviewed. This approach allows CSS to offer both Department of Transportation (DOT) and non-DOT clients a consistent level of quality assurance that exceeds the Federal gold standard.

Confidentiality
A large volume of personal and private information is associated with the drug testing process. CSS understands that strict security and confidentiality measures are required to protect its clients and their employees. As a matter of CSS policy, CSS personnel will only report information to Client's authorized personnel. Results available on CSS EASE, our Internet reporting system, are password and encryption protected.

Turnaround Time
CSS will normally report results within one hour of receiving the results from the Medical Review Officer. Results are date stamped for collection, laboratory receipt of specimen, laboratory download and Medical Review Officer release of result. By providing contact information for all donors on the requisition forms companies ensure that MROs can promptly contact donors when necessary without having to track down phone numbers. This reduces turnaround time in reporting results.

Specimen Collection Management
CSS can identify and select collection facilities convenient to a client's worksites and manage the collection process. If on-site collections are necessary, CSS can arrange for this service as well.

Laboratory Management
CSS can identify and select a laboratory, or combination of laboratories, to provide testing services. CSS will communicate account set-up information to the labs and coordinate the shipment of chain of custody forms and instructional information to authorized client personnel and program administrators. Rather than relying on a single laboratory, a blended lab approach can result in substantial per-test savings for clients with multiple business locations.

Medical Review Officer (MRO) Services
Medical review of drug test results protects both employees and employers from the liabilities inherent in any drug testing program. The integrity of a testing program depends on its fairness and accuracy: no individual should be labeled a substance abuser in error. The MRO plays a central role in ensuring that this does not happen.

CSS's contracted MRO, an industry leader and a principal architect on the Medical Review process, employs eight trained and experienced MROs who are certified by the Medical Review Officers Certification Council (MROCC), the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) or the American Association of Medical Review Officers (AAMRO). Every individual who has a positive lab result has an opportunity to speak with an MRO before a report is made to the company.

After interviewing a donor, the MRO may deem it necessary to consult with laboratory or collection site officials, refer the case to a local MRO physician for a face-to-face interview and physical examination (a rare occurrence), or order a retest of the original specimen. Upon conclusion of this process, the MRO will 1) determine that the result is scientifically accurate, lacks legitimate medical explanation, and report the result as positive OR 2) determine that a legitimate medical explanation exists, substantiate and document that explanation, and report the result as negative.
